In 2011-12, 96 people were detained in police custody in Worcestershire, last year this fell to 11, a reduction of 88.5%. This trend continues with only two people being detained this year to date. This reflects the success of local multi-agency working and the strength of relationships between police officers and the AMHP service. Worcestershire has a single health-based Place of Safety with flexibility to manage children and young people needing a crisis response and support a maximum of 3 people.
